It’s so misguided and I HATED IT SO MUCH AS A CHILD that now I love it and I keep thinking of them as like awful goblin-things “symbolizing” insects which need a name like Bugboos or Bugwumps or something

Imagine Bugwumps trying to blend in with insects. Like one way bigger than a bee next to a hive, unconvincingly making bee noises and you have to pretend not to notice it as you walk past. Or one in a line of army ants on a tree. Or you get up at night and see a roach on the kitchen floor, but when you go to kill/capture it out of the corner of your eye a Bugwump skitters under your sink.

i know ive blogged abt this before but does anyone else remember the study on the children w/ a broken furby who like. removed its skin and cut it into as many pieces as those who were present for the ceremony to be taken far away and buried as a means of appeasing it?? & they like?? defined the skin as the ghost and the rest as the goblin and both were angry that the children had killed it??????????????? please

I read about it in Sherry Turkle’s Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other which btw good book. here:

Alien 3 was a good movie in my humble opinion, but they started to sweep it completely under the carpet when talking about Alien 5.

Alien 3 was really…not good (it’s good until Tywin Lannister dies) but it’s odd to act like they’ve never tried to give her an ending before. All 4 movies ‘end’, far more than modern serial-esque genre films.
